Wanda Lee Holland was my amazing aunt! Throughout her life she held many titles: mother of two, founding member of her church, wife to a US Army Veteran and one of the most generous, caring and loving people I have ever known.
Aunt Wanda was born in, what was then, rural northwest Arkansas. Life was simple back then: you worked hard, did the right thing and always gave your best efforts. Back then people lived off the goodness of the land by planting in the spring, canning bounty in the summer and making Christmas candy and fudge for family and friends in the winter. It’s just the way things were back then. Simple and wholesome.
Aunt Wanda’s Christmas candy care packages helped my parents feel closer to home while stationed far away and expecting their first child on a Navy sailors meager pay.
It was Aunt Wanda’s canned goods that helped me as a young, broke college student make ends meet. I looked forward to her care packages while away at college—in fact, my whole life!
Aunt Wanda has since passed away, but thanks to her enormous collection of recipes we have been able to bring back some of our favorites. We will do our best to add her same love and care by using only responsibly sourced products and quality ingredients. We will bring you the same down home flavor that those of us lucky enough to have known her have enjoyed year after year. Whether you are enjoying this special treat yourself or sending to a loved one—we invite you to…taste what “down home” was meant to be.
